Kollywood and the music directors
April 1, 2008 by Ruud van
Many films are desperately waiting for the music tracks to be completed. ‘Sakkarakatti’, for example, is waiting for the music wizard A.R. Rahman, who is yet to compose three more songs for the film. The film marks the entry of Shanthanu, son of K. Bhagyaraj. Incidentally it is also the debutant vehicle for Kalaippuli S. Thanu’s son Prabhu as director. Both are eagerly awaiting the release of the movie. Jeeva’s ‘Dhaam Dhoom’, starring Jayam Ravi, is waiting for Harris Jayaraj, who has to complete a song. Director Selvaraghavan has replaced his favorite music director Yuvan Shankar Raja with G.V. Prakash Kumar for ‘Ayirathil Oruvan’, as Yuvan allegedly delayed too much to compose the music. Some music directors, on the other hand, are craving for opportunities. Sirpi, who has given many hits, doesn’t have any film on hand. Soundaryan is banking on ‘Malarinum Melliya’ for his comeback but the film is struggling to get released. Though Karthikraja has earned good name in the industry as a music director, he doesn’t get much offers. He has now got a film after a long time in director Shankar’s production.
While Dheena, Devi Sri Prasad, and Imman are doing well, it is Srikanth Deva, who is leading the race. Reason? He demands less and delivers fast.
